Ark is seeking a Project Manager to join its Education Partnerships Group (EPG) team. EPG works with partners in the government and private sectors to improve learning outcomes for children from poor communities. We believe that excellent outcomes for students can come from the public or the private sector – but the state must play a key role as the guarantor of a quality education for all students. Our vision is to help governments in developing countries provide a quality education to every child, by bringing the public and private sectors closer together. EPG has active engagements in South Africa, Uganda, Liberia, Sierra Leone, Kenya and India, and a strong pipeline in other geographies in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
Robust, relevant and reliable school data is critical to improve school performance and learner outcomes and therefore is central to EPG’s work. Good use of education data (such as attendance and assessment) can help transform a school’s performance and can also improve a government’s ability to monitor schools. However, in many countries in Africa and Asia, there has been very limited efforts to empower school leaders to use data directly to improve pupil outcomes or for governments to effectively hold schools accountable. Our portfolio of pilot projects, delivered in different contexts (India, Uganda, Sierra Leone, South Africa), are identifying effective approaches to using data for school improvement in developing countries. Having seen encouraging results we are now at an exciting juncture in developing our strategy to scale up this work.
The appointed candidate will be able to build on the established relationships and experience from the pilot phases, but will be also have a unique opportunity to shape and manage the strategy in this exciting next phase.
